Pele Brazilian legend Pele (real name: Edson Arantes do Nascimento) is regarded by many as the best player of all time. He is also the only player to win three World Cups: in 1958, 1962 and 1970.

1986 Mexico became the first repeat host of the World Cup when it staged the competition for the second time in 1986. Colombia had been originally chosen to host the competition but due to economic reasons, was not able to do so and so officially resigned.

3x Brazil and Mexico have meet three times in previous World Cups (1950, 1954 and 1962). Brazil have won all three 4-0, 5-0 and 2-0.
